Best just going for off the peg costumes for kids that age. Try Disney or Tescos.

Remember the rubies nes are huge for the claimed, ages.

A jawa is quite light weight- subject to the bandolier (Lucas's leather gear is heavy but leather bandolier's certainly appear cheaper) - and can be cheap-ish to build but not as cheap as a rubies.

I am about to build a new jawa for Lucas but his current one will drown a 4 year old

You're probably best putting up a wanted post nearer the time. You probably want to wait a few years to get a serious costume. With the new movies coming out who knows what the kids will be into by the time episode 9 is done.

I think mine were at least 6 before I built their first costume.

Jawa costumes are great for the little ones but they can be challenging to wear: claustrophobic with the hood/mask and very hot. You don't want to put them off! Very Happy

Also...kids grow so quickly at that age that they might only wear it once or twice.

I agree about off-the-peg stuff.
